Jim & Terri Dark

February 21, 1934 — April 14, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Jim and Theresa Dark, who left this world just two weeks apart, bound by a love so profound that even in death, they could not bear to be separated for long. Jim departed on April 14, 2026, and Theresa followed him shortly thereafter, both leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion. Jim Dark was born on February 21, 1934, in Toronto, Ontario, and Theresa Agnus Dark graced this world in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Their paths crossed and intertwined in a storybook romance, culminating in their union on June 26, 1956. Together, they built a life rich with love and adventure, nurturing a family that would grow to include six children, 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Theirs was a partnership that stood as a testament to enduring love and unwavering commitment. Jim, a proud military man, embarked on a distinguished career with the Royal Canadian Navy. Serving aboard the HMCS Magnificent and HMCS Bonaventure as an Air Bosun, Jim's dedication was evident from the beginning. His career path led him to become a firefighter, where he found great fulfillment as an instructor at the NBCD Firefighting School. His passion for service and teaching continued as he took on the role of Deputy Fire Chief in North Bay, Ontario, and later as an instructor in Victoria, British Columbia. Upon completing his military career, Jim continued to serve his community as a commissioner with the city of Victoria. His legacy of service, courage, and leadership will forever inspire those who knew him. Theresa was the heart and soul of the Dark family. Her unwavering support and love were the cornerstones of their home, and her nurturing spirit was felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a beacon of kindness and strength, and her loss leaves a deep void in the lives of her family and friends. Jim and Theresa's lives were a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Their family was their greatest joy, and they delighted in the accomplishments and happiness of their children and grandchildren. Their home was always open, a sanctuary filled with warmth and love. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Priory Long Term Care Hospital for the compassionate care and kindness they showed to Jim and Theresa over the years. A service to celebrate the lives of Jim and Theresa Dark will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 91 in Langford, BC, on June 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Located at 761 Station Avenue, the Legion will be a fitting place to honor two lives lived with honor, dedication, and love. In remembering Jim and Theresa, we celebrate a love that transcended time and space, a love that teaches us the true meaning of devotion. Though they have left this world, their spirits will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved them. May they find eternal peace together.
