Jim Johnson, born March 14, 1961, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home on September 20, 2026 in Brandon, Mississippi after a short illness, surrounded by his beloved family. Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His warm spirit and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew him.
Jim was the cherished son of Albert and Ila Mae Johnson, who instilled in him the values of kindness, hard work, and integrity. He graduated from high school in Jonesboro and went on to serve his country with honor. From 1984 to 1994, Jim served as an infantry Staff Sergeant in the United States Army, a period of his life that he held with great pride and dedication.
In 1986, Jim married the love of his life, Denise. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Their marriage of 40 years was a testament to their unshakeable bond and deep affection for one another. Jim was a devoted father to his children, Faith and Joshua, and a doting grandfather to Zane, Matthias, Daniel, and Rosalyn. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he took immense joy in watching them grow and thrive.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Denise; daughter, Faith; son, Joshua; grandsons, Zane, Matthias, and Daniel; and granddaughter, Rosalyn. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Diana and her husband James; sister-in-law Susan and her husband SD; brother-in-law Matthew; nieces Jamie, Amanda, Brooke, and Briana and their husbands and children; nephews Chris and his wife and children, and Ben; and his "brother" Junior and his wife Jimmie. Each of them held a special place in Jim's heart, and he cherished the time spent with his extended family.
In addition to his family, Jim leaves behind a legacy of friendship and camaraderie. He touched the lives of many with his generous spirit, infectious smile, and steadfast loyalty.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Gentiva Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion during Jim's final days. Their support and kindness brought comfort to Jim and his family during a difficult time.
In accordance with his wishes, a Celebration of his Life will be held to honor Jim's life and legacy at a later date.
Jim will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
