In Loving Memory of Jill Susan Hadley
It is with a mixture of profound sorrow and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Jill Susan Hadley, who left this world on July 14, 2026, at the age of 62. Jill was born on March 5, 1964, in Austin, Texas, and adopted by her loving parents, Howard and Beatrice Matthews. She was welcomed into heaven after a short but fierce battle with cancer, surrounded by her devoted family.
Jill's life was marked by her unwavering love for her family and her steadfast faith. In 1989, she married the love of her life, Stephen Hadley, in Baytown, Texas. Together, they built a home filled with joy, laughter, and the occasional challenge over 37 beautiful years. Their union was blessed with four extraordinary children: Matthew, Shaun, Courtney, and Andrew. Jill's love extended beyond her immediate family, welcoming her son-in-law, Dillon Simon, and cherishing her beloved granddaughter, Kaycie Simon, as the one and only Mimzy. Jill's birth mother, Shirley Montgomery, survives her, forming a cherished and intricate part of her life's story.
A proud graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School's class of 1981, Jill embraced learning and growth in every stage of life. Her career was as diverse as it was fulfilling, encompassing roles from substitute teacher to media director, secretary, and her most cherished role, that of a homemaker. In each of these roles, she was known as a kind, loving, yet firm mentor who touched countless lives with her wisdom and grace.
Jill's life was also defined by her deep faith and service to her community. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Odem, Texas, and a dedicated participant in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her.
A creative soul, Jill found joy in the simple beauty of the natural world. She reveled in the tranquility of the beach and the companionship of her horses, always finding peace and inspiration in the great outdoors.
A service to honor and celebrate Jill's life will be held on July 24, 2026, at 3:30 PM at Sacred Heart Church, located at 403 W Willis St, Odem, TX 78370. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Jill are invited to come together in remembrance of her remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the fundraiser started in her name (https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-loving-memory-of-jill-susan-hadley). Proceeds will go towards the purchase of a simple yet elegant headstone that matched Jill's personality.
Jill Susan Hadley leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her memory will forever be a guiding light to those she loved.
