In Loving Memory

Jewel Marie Hunter
May 21, 1937 — October 16, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jewel Marie Hunter, a vibrant spirit beloved by all who knew her. Jewel passed away peacefully at her home in Inglewood, California, October 16, 2026, after a courageous battle with a long illness. Born on May 21, 1937, in La Marque, Jewel was a beacon of joy and warmth throughout her 89 years of life.
Jewel was born to Saul and Mattie Young, who, along with her siblings, predeceased her. Despite the trials of losing so many dear family members, Jewel's spirit remained unbroken and full of life. She was the last of her immediate family, yet she leaves behind a legacy of love and brightness that will continue to shine in the lives of her three cherished grandchildren.
In 1957, at the tender age of 20, Jewel married the love of her life, Eugene Hunter Sr. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and countless memories. Jewel graduated from La Marque High School, an achievement she held dear, and went on to dedicate 15 years of her life to educating young minds in the private school industry. Her passion for teaching and her commitment to her students left an indelible mark on those she taught and worked alongside.
Those who knew Jewel will remember her as the life of the party. Her friendly and gregarious nature drew people to her, and her vivacious personality made her the center of attention wherever she went. Jewel's laughter was infectious, and her zest for life was truly unmatched.
As we gather to celebrate Jewel's remarkable life, we carry her spirit with us, forever illuminated by her love, joy, and unforgettable presence. Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who supported them during Jewel's illness and continue to offer their love and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jewel's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
Thank you for celebrating Jewel Marie Hunter with us and for being part of her extraordinary journey.
