Jesus "Chuy" Antonio Sanchez

November 27, 1995 — June 13, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jesus "Chuy" Antonio Sanchez, a beloved son, brother, fiancé, and friend. Chuy left this world peacefully at 1:30 am on June 13, 2026, after a valiant battle in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu. He was 30 years old. Born on November 27, 1995, in Van Nuys, California, Chuy was the cherished son of Joyce Roxana Torres Burrola and Marco Antonio Sanchez Campa. From a young age, he exhibited an infectious enthusiasm for life, one that he carried with him into adulthood. He had a knack for spreading joy and laughter wherever he went, a testament to his funny, energetic, and curious nature—a true light in the lives of those who knew him. Chuy was more than just a son and brother; he was a beacon of love and warmth in his family. He is survived by his devoted parents, his sisters Joyce Hazzel Sanchez Torres and Gisselle Torres, and his beloved fiancé, Lani Grace Balagso. Each of them carries forward the love and memories of a remarkable man who was deeply family-oriented and always prioritized the happiness of those around him. Chuy's journey with Lani Grace began on January 31, 2023, when they met as coworkers at Safeway in Phoenix, Arizona. Their shared moments, whether at work or elsewhere, were filled with laughter and love. Their bond grew stronger with each passing day, culminating in a heartfelt engagement on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, amidst the breathtaking beauty of Waikoloa, Big Island of Hawaii. Professionally, Chuy spent over a decade in the fast food industry, honing his skills and exploring his passion for cooking. When he moved to Hawaii, this passion blossomed as he embarked on a career as a chef. His culinary journey took him from Hilton's Cook IV position to a Deli Cook at Island Gourmet, where he delighted in crafting meals with precision and creativity. Cooking became not just a profession but a love language, especially when preparing meals for Lani Grace. Beyond the kitchen, Chuy was a gifted musician, exploring the world of music with a fervor that matched his zest for life. Whether studying time signatures, playing the drums, guitar, or keyboard, or simply immersing himself in diverse genres, music was his solace and joy. He also shared a special connection with the Halo game series, a testament to his lifelong love of video games. Throughout his life, Chuy's musically talented and joyful spirit touched everyone he met. He was a curious soul, always eager to learn and grow, whether it was through expanding his knife set collection or delving into the nuances of a new recipe. His legacy is one of laughter, love, and an unwavering commitment to the happiness of those around him. In honoring Chuy's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held by the family. They extend their deepest gratitude to the Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu, whose medical team provided exceptional care, empathy, and support during his time in the SICU. Their kindness and dedication will forever be remembered. As we bid farewell to Chuy, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and music. May his spirit continue to inspire us all to spread joy and cherish the moments we have with our loved ones. Rest in peace, dear Chuy. Your melody will forever resonate in our hearts.
