Jessie Woodard

October 20, 1951 — June 30, 2026

Jessie Woodard, a cherished soul whose life was characterized by love, music, and family, passed away on June 30, 2026, at the age of 75, in a rehab center following a fall. Born on October 20, 1951, in Dallas, Texas, Jessie was a beacon of joy and warmth to all who knew him. Jessie was the beloved son of the late Jessie and Dorothy Woodard. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Helen Turner, Linda Green, and Dorothy Johnson, who now welcome him with open arms in the hereafter. A proud alumnus of Lincoln High School, Jessie was not only dedicated to his studies but also to his passion for music. He formed a singing group later in life called the Soul Searchers creating beautiful harmonies that touched the hearts of many. His love for singing was a constant throughout his life, as was his delight in the simple pleasure of a KFC potpie. Jessie was a father to his daughter, Chenoa Stewart Turner, and a doting grandfather to his two grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy, and poured his heart into every moment spent with them. Jessie's legacy of warmth and generosity is carried on by his brother James Woodard, surviving sisters, Violet Woodard, Joystean Woodard, and Bernice Coker, and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and friends who adored her. An active member of his church, until his illness,Jessie was a man of deep faith and compassion, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. His steadfast spirit left an indelible mark on those he served alongside. A celebration of Jessie's life will be held on July 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m at Abundant Faith Fellowship, located at 3930 N.
