Jessie M. Ball

In loving memory of Jessie M. Ball, who departed this world on July 24, 2026, after a valiant battle. Born on December 23, 1946, in Starkville, Mississippi, Jessie was a beloved daughter of the late Emma Lou Carter McGee and Elbert McGee. With grace and dignity, she was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jessie was a woman of remarkable warmth and kindness, known for her sweet personality and warm smile that could brighten any room. Her laughter was infectious, and her presence brought peace and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her. A woman of poise, she always sent family off with a demure "Kiss Kiss". Her gentle spirit will be dearly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, two brothers, Calvin Petty Jr. and Bobby L. Carter, and her cherished sister, Bessie M. Rhine. Jessie leaves behind her devoted husband of over 30 years, Ernest Ball, who stood by her side through life's many journeys. Together, they built a life of love and happiness, surrounded by family and friends. Jessie is survived by her four children: Larry Petty (Hattie) of Columbus, MS, Lisa Hancock (Jimmie Jr.) of Katy, TX, Lenzell Petty of Columbus, MS, and Whitney Young (Aaron) of Austin, TX. She was the proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored deeply and who brought immense joy to her life. Her siblings, Arthur Robinson (Edna) of Fort Worth, TX, Purnell McGee (Juanita) of Meridian, MS, Louise Carter, Ida Faye Carter, Sharon Chandler (Robert), and Marion Blair (Russell), all of Starkville, MS, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, will continue to cherish her memory. Jessie dedicated 37 years of her professional life to the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, where she touched countless lives with her compassion and care. Her commitment to her faith was unwavering, having accepted Christ at an early age, and she was an active member of the Fifteenth Street Church of God in Christ. In her leisure time, Jessie found joy in tending to her garden, cooking for her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoying her favorite television shows like Judge Judy and the Golden Girls. May the cherished memories of Jessie M. Ball continue to inspire and comfort all who loved her. Her legacy of love, warmth, and kindness will forever remain in our hearts.
