In loving memory of Jessie Lee Smith Jr, who peacefully departed this world on September 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family and community. Born on September 24, 1957, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, Jessie was the beloved son of the late Jessie Lee Smith Sr and Minnie Pearl Meansee. Jessie's journey through life was marked by his vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to his family. He was a devoted father to Marlon Smith and his wife Cherise, and Stacey Smith and her husband Terrance Aldridge. His pride and joy were his six grandchildren, Adam, Aaron, Alanis, Ava, Andrew, and Alexander, to whom he imparted wisdom and love throughout their lives. Jessie was blessed with two marriages in his lifetime. In 1976, he married Judith Smith, with whom he shared many cherished memories until their amicable separation in 1987. On September 24, 1997, he found love again with Sheila Smith, with whom he enjoyed many years of happiness and companionship. A graduate of Soldan High School in 1976, Jessie had a diverse and fulfilling career. He worked in airplane maintenance for TWA Airlines, journeyed across the country with Werner Enterprises, and contributed his skills to the Union Pacific Railroad and a transport carrier. His professional life was a testament to his strong work ethic and determination. Jessie found spiritual solace and community at Greater Calvary Baptist Church, where he was baptized in 1970. His faith was a guiding force in his life, providing him with strength and comfort. Known for his love of driving and his adventurous spirit, Jessie delighted in trying new restaurants with Sheila. He was renowned for his delicious barbecue ribs, a culinary gift that brought family and friends together. His love for music and humor was infectious, and he could often be found sharing a joke or a story that left everyone in stitches.
