Jessie William McSwain

Jessie McSwain, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly on August 13, 2026, at the age of 58. Born on January 5, 1968, in Starke, Florida, Jessie was the cherished son of Marlene Nichols and the late Fred McSwain. Jessie's life was a testament to love, dedication, and service. After graduating from St. Augustine High School in 1986, he served his country with honor as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. Specializing in IT, he dedicated 24 years to the Corps, retiring in 2010. Jessie's commitment to service continued beyond his military career, as he became an active member of the First Baptist Church in Monticello, Florida, and took joy in coaching little league baseball. In 2012, Jessie reconnected with his high school sweetheart, Dana Williams, and they married in 2014, beginning a new chapter filled with love and laughter. Together, they built a blended family that was the center of Jessie's world. He is survived by his devoted wife of 12 years, Dana William McSwain, and his loving children, Trevor McSwain and Cathy (Phillip) Anderson. Jessie took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Austin, Allison, Cali, and Heath, whose lives he enriched with his humor and warmth. Jessie's vibrant spirit was evident in his hobbies and interests. An avid fisherman, he found peace and joy in the great outdoors. He was also passionate about gardening and spent countless hours volunteering at his church, always eager to lend a helping hand. Known for his quick wit and warm smile, Jessie had the remarkable ability to turn strangers into friends and to bring laughter to any room. He is also survived by his mother, Marlene Nichols, and his father-in-law, Earl David Williams, Sr. Jessie was predeceased by his father, Fred McSwain, his stepfather, Gregory Nichols, his brother, Johnnie McSwain, and his mother-in-law, Linda Williams. His absence leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. A service to honor and celebrate Jessie's life will be held on August 18, 2026, at 11:00 PM at the First Baptist Church, located at 325 W Washington St., Monticello, FL 32344. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a man who touched so many lives with his kindness and generosity. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jessie's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that was close to his heart. The family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone for the love and compassion shown during this difficult time. Jessie's legacy of love and laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
