It is with profound sadness and love that we announce the passing of Jessica Hope Curtis, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, who departed this world on June 12, 2026. Born on May 15, 1987, Jessica graced us with 39 years of warmth, laughter, and boundless compassion. Her departure leaves an indelible void in the lives of those fortunate enough to have known her.
Jessica was born to Teresa Ward and Jeff Ward, and was lovingly guided through life by her stepfather, Alan Gaddis. She grew up in Monroe, North Carolina, where she graduated from Sun Valley High School in 2005. Proud of her heritage, Jessica was a devoted member of the Lumbee Tribe, a testament to her deep-rooted sense of family and community.
In a love story that began in childhood, Jessica married her sweetheart, Matthew Curtis, on September 9, 2021, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Their bond was a testament to true partnership, filled with laughter and unwavering support. Together, they shared nearly five beautiful years of marriage, during which Jessica embraced her role as a stepmother to Paxton and Grady, whom she affectionately referred to as "the little apples of her eye."
Jessica's passion for life was evident in her love for the outdoors. Whether it was embarking on a road trip, camping under the stars, or enjoying a peaceful day at the lake or beach, she found joy in every moment spent with her family amidst nature's beauty. Her infectious enthusiasm turned even the simplest of road trips into grand adventures.
Known for her quick wit, warm smile, and generous spirit, Jessica had an unparalleled ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued. Her humor brightened the darkest of days, and her kindness resonated deeply with all who crossed her path. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Jessica is survived by her devoted husband, Matthew Curtis; cherished step-sons, Paxton and Grady; her loving mother, Teresa Ward; fathers, Jeff Ward and Alan Gaddis; and siblings, Malachi, Robbie, Zack, and Amanda. Each of them carries forward the light of her spirit and the lessons of love and laughter she imparted.
A celebration of Jessica's life will be held on June 27, 2026, at 12:00 PM at North Union Church of God, located at 12422 Bain School Rd., Mint Hill, NC. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of her remarkable life.
As we bid farewell to Jessica, we hold onto the memories of her radiant smile and the love she so freely gave. Though our hearts are heavy, we find solace in knowing that her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the love she shared.
