May 29, 1962 — July 13, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jesse Sublett, a beloved family member and friend, who departed this life peacefully on July 13, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on May 29, 1962, Jesse was the cherished child of the late Charles Sublett, Jr. and Lois Watts Sublett, whose love and values shaped the compassionate person Jesse became.
Jesse grew up surrounded by family love and laughter, instilling a deep appreciation for the bonds of kinship. Predeceased by parents Charles and Lois, niece Shauna Saunders, great-nephew Ashton Saunders, and sister-in-law Virginia Sublett, Jesse remained a pillar of strength and support for those left behind.
Jesse's legacy is carried forward by an extended family, including stepchildren Matthew Laubach (Jessica), Jerry Laubach, and Tammy Canada (Robbie), whose lives were touched by Jesse’s warmth and generosity. Jesse is also survived by siblings, sisters Sondra Garnett (Jimmy) and Dianne Tuck (Walter), and brother Spurgeon Sublett. The next generation of family members, nephews Philip, Nathaniel, Charles Garnett, and Jared Tuck, and niece Stacey Montgomery, along with seventeen great-nephews and nieces and one great-great-niece, continue to cherish and honor Jesse's memory.
Jesse's life was marked by kindness, dedication, and a gentle spirit that left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know them. A lover of family gatherings, Jesse took great joy in bringing people together, always ready with a warm smile and an open heart. This spirit of togetherness and love was a guiding light throughout Jesse’s life, touching all who crossed their path.
A celebration of Jesse's life will be held on July 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church, located at 2595 Midway Rd., Phenix, VA 23959. Family and friends are invited to gather and share in the remembrance of Jesse's remarkable life and enduring legacy.
In honor of Jesse's compassionate nature, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Jesse's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting the spirit of giving that Jesse embodied throughout life.
Jesse Sublett will be deeply missed, but the love and memories shared will remain in our hearts forever, a testament to a life well-lived and a soul that brought joy to so many.
