December 17, 1940 - May 20, 2026 It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Jesse Andrew Wells (JA) on May 20, 2026. Jesse departed this life at the age of 85, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and enduring kindness. He was born on December 17, 1940, to Craven and Amanda Griffen Wells. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, his brother James Wells, and his first wife, Gwendolyn Fay Wells. Jesse is survived by his devoted wife, Ruby Wells, who stood by his side with unwavering love and companionship. Together, they had a life filled with shared memories and cherished moments. His legacy continues through his daughter, Gina Holloway, and son, Kenneth (Patricia) Wells. Jesse's family extended further through his stepdaughters, Pam (Kent) Stewart, Kathy (Tommy) Smith, Linda (Darrell) Jackson, and stepsons, Mike (Cyndi) Amerson, and Jeff Amerson. He loved his many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He had two sisters, Linda (Patrick) Leonard and Gerry (Dan) Shearin, as well as his sister-in-law, Deanie Wells. A dedicated member of Woodridge Baptist Church, Jesse found great joy in his faith community, where he was known for his quick wit and ability to lighten any room he entered. His gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued was a testament to his character, touching countless lives over the years with his kindness and generosity. Jesse had an undeniable green thumb, spending many peaceful hours tending to his yard and flower garden. His love for nurturing life was mirrored in the way he cultivated relationships, always with an open heart and gentle spirit. A service to celebrate Jesse's life will be held on May 26, 2026, at Woodridge Baptist Church, located at 2700 Schillinger Road S, Mobile, Alabama 36695. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable man whose life was a blessing to all who knew him. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Woodridge Baptist Church and Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time.
