Jerry Wilburn Causby

September 6, 1938 — September 21, 2026

Jerry Wilburn Causby, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at Covenant Village on September 21, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on September 6, 1938, in Buncombe County, North Carolina, Jerry was the son of the late Wilburn and Anna Pyatt Causby. Jerry grew up in a loving family, alongside his sister, the late Alix Thompson, and a late infant brother. He attended Ashley High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with learning and achievement. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Jerry proudly served in the US Army Reserves, exemplifying his commitment to his country. His professional career was marked by distinction and dedication. He began as an auditor for Ernst & Ernst, and his exceptional skills led him to become Vice President and Secretary of Finance for Vision Hosiery in Belmont. He later served as a financial officer for Tim L. Harris and Associates. Jerry's expertise and leadership were recognized when he was elected President of the Local Chapter of the National Association of Accountants. A man of deep faith, Jerry was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Holly. He served as a Deacon, former Chairman of the Finance Committee, and the Transportation Committee, and was the Head Usher. His contributions to the church were immeasurable, and his presence will be sorely missed by the congregation. Jerry's life was enriched by the love he shared with his wife, Becky Causby, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage. Together, they raised a wonderful family, including their son, Robert Causby and wife Chrystal of Wadesboro, and their daughter, Karen Greene, and loving friend Darren, of Lincolnton. Jerry was a proud grandfather to Jamie Greene, Austin Causby, Spencer Causby, and Jessie Greene, and a cherished great-grandfather to Grayson, Gavin, Gannon, and Conner. Jerry was preceded in death by his grandson Josh Greene. Jerry's personal interests were as diverse as they were passionate. He had a knack for auto mechanics and delighted in fixing anything and everything. His woodworking projects were a testament to his skill and creativity. He enjoyed the tranquility of boating and fishing and was known for his love of WWII movies. Above all, he was affectionately known for his playful spirit, often delighting in "aggravating" his beloved wife Becky. Jerry was a man who never failed to brighten a room with his smile. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and integrity. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with him. A service celebrating Jerry’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday September 25, 2026, at the First Baptist Church in Mount Holly. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. The family would like to offer special thanks to the Nursing Staff at Covenant Village. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 385, Mount Holly NC 28120 or to Covenant Village Legacy of Care Fund, 1351 Robinwood Road Gastonia NC 28054.
