Jerry Louis Rogers, beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at the age of 80. Born in the charming town of Seaboard, North Carolina, on June 22, 1946, Jerry was the cherished son of the late Ovella Rogers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ovella, and his siblings Nana Miles-Walter, Eula Williams, James Rogers, Edward Rogers, Raymond Rogers, Willie Leon Rogers, and Maurice Rogers. Also preceding him were Brenda Morris and Delore Squire, whom Ovella raised with love. Jerry is survived by his devoted siblings, Melinda Rogers and John Rogers, his loving daughter, Bit, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were touched by his kindness and warmth. Jerry's formative years were spent in North Carolina, where he attended Gumberry High School. He continued his education at Antioch Barber and Design College in Baltimore, Maryland, where he earned his license as a barber and beautician. A man of many talents, Jerry was the proud owner and operator of "Shear Elegance by Jerry," a renowned beauty salon and barber shop. Known for his meticulous craftsmanship, Jerry built lasting friendships and earned the respect of his community through his work. In 1966, Jerry answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served as a member of the United States Marine Corps Weapons Platoon, 3rd Squad, where he led as an M60 Machine Gun Leader. His commitment to his fellow Marines and his country was unwavering and honorable. A man of faith, Jerry regularly attended church, finding strength and joy in his relationship with God. His love for people was evident in all he did, and his generosity and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Jerry had a zest for life and a wide array of interests. He had a passion for fishing and found solace in the peaceful nature of the sport. A culinary enthusiast, he delighted in cooking vegan dishes, always eager to share his creations with loved ones. Music was another of Jerry's great loves, and he was particularly fond of the soulful sounds of Motown and jazz. Jerry's legacy of love, kindness, and service will forever be cherished by those who knew him. His life was a testament to the power of community, love, and faith. As we remember Jerry, let us celebrate the joy he brought into our lives and honor the beautiful journey he shared with us all.
