Jerry Lee Sparks

Jerry Lee Sparks, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on September 5, 1943, in San Jose, California, Jerry was the beloved son of Stance and Ludie Mae Armstrong Sparks. Jerry embarked on a life of service and dedication, proudly serving in the United States Navy and Navy reserves from 1960 to 1966. His military service took him to the Philippines, where he contributed to his country's efforts with honor and distinction. His commitment to service extended beyond his military career into civilian life, where he dedicated 28 years to the postal service, leaving a mark of reliability and kindness. In his earlier years, he also worked for Pepsi and Aramark. A member of the Veterans American Legion, Jerry found camaraderie and purpose in his association with fellow veterans. His passion for life was evident in his love for playing pool, a pastime he pursued with enthusiasm and skill. But perhaps one of Jerry's most remarkable qualities was his compassion for others; he spent much of his spare time caring for those who lacked family support, offering them comfort and companionship. On December 18, 1965, Jerry married the love of his life, Judith Reynolds, in Reno, Nevada. Together, they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage, building a family that became the center of Jerry's world. He is survived by his devoted wife Judith, daughters Sandy Collard and Tracy Mallory, and son-in-law Aaron Mallory. His treasured grandchildren: Keathan and Konder Morris, Brooke and Bridgitte Collard, and Trystan Mallory. Jerry is also survived by his brother Wayne Sparks and a sister-in-law Lynn Sparks. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Jack Sparks and wife Norma Bell, Gene Sparks and wife Joyce, Reverend James (Sonny) Sparks, and Michael Sparks, as well as his sisters Frances Taylor, Amelia Harris, and Gloria Shadwell, and sister-in-law Merlene Sparks. Each held a special place in his heart. Visitation will be at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home on Friday, August 14th from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 15th at 10:00 am at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with interment immediately following funeral at Forrest Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keathan Morris, Konder Morris, Leonard Molaris, Randy Molaris, Aaron Mallory and Dayton Craig. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jerry's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that supports veterans. The Sparks family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the City of Paris paramedics Brandi Skidmore and Bonnie Toten, Sara at PRMC ER, and the staff at Medical City Plano for their exceptional care and compassion during Jerry's final days. Jerry Lee Sparks leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and kindness. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
