Born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, on October 31, 1954, Jerry was a gift to his parents, Edgar and Beatrice Smith, and his vibrant family. He was the steadfast thread that wove his family and friends together, touching countless lives with his kindness and laughter.
Jerry's early years in Sapulpa were filled with the warmth and camaraderie of his large family. He graduated from Sapulpa High School, a milestone that marked the beginning of a lifelong journey of compassion and service. For 30 years, Jerry dedicated himself to the noble profession of caregiving, offering not just his skills, but his heart, to those in need of comfort and support.
Music was the rhythm of Jerry's life, with Jazz and smooth R&B providing the soundtrack to his days. He found solace in long rides in his cherished 2018 grey Silverado truck, where the open road welcomed his dreams and reflections. Jerry's humor and warmth were his trademarks, qualities that endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence was a balm, a steady and joyful force that brought light to every room he entered.
Jerry was predeceased by his loving parents, Edgar and Beatrice, and his siblings, Walter Bennett, Frank Smith, James Maloy, Eddie Smith, Donnie Smith, Onetha Brown, Melvina Saunders, Edna Heath, Sammie Ranson, Thema Smith, and Elweeta Kendrick. He leaves behind his beloved sister, Katherine Santos, along with a host of nieces and nephews who will carry his legacy of love and laughter forward.
A celebration of Jerry's life will take place on July 25, 2026, at 1:00 PM at North Laguna Creek Park, located at 6400 Jacinto Avenue. The family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who attends, acknowledging that your support will forever remain in their hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jerry's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his lifelong commitment to helping others.
