It is with heavy hearts yet fond memories that we announce the passing of Jerry Ezell Hardin, who peacefully departed this life on April 19, 2026, at the age of 46, after a valiant battle with lung cancer. Jerry was a beacon of love and resilience, whose warmth touched all who knew him. Born on November 3, 1979, in the vibrant community of West Oakland, he was the cherished son of Gwendolyn, who instilled in him the values of compassion and strength. Jerry was defined by his unwavering dedication to his family and a life characterized by love, laughter, and positivity. He was a devoted father to his beloved daughter, Amaya, with whom he shared countless moments of joy and wisdom. Jerry's family was his world, and he found profound joy in surrounding himself with his loved ones, always striving to uplift and support them in every way. His nurturing spirit extended to his cherished siblings, Jonae, Monique, and Inez, who will forever hold his memory dear in their hearts. A man of simple pleasures, Jerry found fulfillment in the company of his family, relishing the warmth and comfort of their shared experiences. He was a steadfast presence in their lives, always ready with an encouraging word or a listening ear. His ability to spread positivity and love was a testament to his generous heart and enduring spirit. Jerry's journey through life was marked by his unyielding courage and determination to face challenges with grace. Even in the face of adversity, he remained a pillar of strength, inspiring those around him with his bravery and hope. A service to honor and celebrate Jerry's life will be held on April 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM at North Oakland Baptist Church, located at 1060 32nd Street, Emeryville, CA 94608. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Jerry are invited to join in remembrance and celebration of a life well-lived. As we bid farewell to Jerry, we carry forward his legacy of love and kindness, cherishing the precious memories he leaves behind. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love he so generously gave. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to organizations dedicated to cancer research and support, continuing Jerry's fight and honoring his enduring spirit.
