Born on February 8, 1944, in the charming town of Ottumwa, Iowa, Jerry was the beloved son of the late Ottis and Ruth Lucas. His life was a testament to the values and love instilled in him by his remarkable parents. Jerry shared a beautiful 34-year journey of love and companionship with his dear wife, Nancy Lucas, whom he married on April 26, 1988. Together, they created a warm and inviting home, characterized by love and laughter, nurturing their family with devotion. Jerry and Nancy's love story extended beyond their children, as they lovingly raised their granddaughter Brittany Robinson and adopted two children Kwyn and Angel Lucas, as their own. Jerry's legacy lives on through his cherished children: Melissa (Christina) Lucas, Melinda Lucas, Brittany Robinson, Amber Dyson, Angel Lucas, and Kwyn Lucas. His boundless love extended to his grandchildren, Austin Turner, Anthony Turner, Ansleigh Robinson, Aisha Pena, Talon Miller, and Corbin Miller, who will forever carry his spirit within their hearts. A man of simple pleasures, Jerry found immense joy in the great outdoors. Whether piddling away in his workshop or basking in the warmth of the sun on weekend-long family trips to the beach, he appreciated life's little wonders. His vibrant personality was infectious, and he possessed the rare ability to see the silver lining in every cloud, even during his courageous battle with cancer. Jerry was affectionately known as "George", "Grandpa", or "Ralph" to close family friends, a testament to the warmth and kindness he exuded. His ability to turn strangers into friends with just a smile or a kind word was a gift he generously shared with the world. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, we remember him not with sadness, but with gratitude for the time we were blessed to have with him.
