It is with heavy hearts and loving memories that we announce the passing of Jerry Dean Pickard, who departed this world on April 7, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on September 19, 1948, in the close-knit community of Thomaston, Georgia, Jerry lived a life that was rich in love, laughter, and the immeasurable joy of family, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know him.
Jerry was the beloved son of Ella Mae Alford and Ben McFarlin, who preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his cherished husband, Eddie Pickard, as well as his children, Willie Henry Daniel and Jerome Alford, and his great-granddaughter, Alyssà Harris. His siblings, Betty Ann Alford, Mary Jean Lockhart, Katherine McFarlin, and Joe McFarlin, also welcomed him into eternal rest.
Jerry's life was a testament to the strength and resilience of family bonds. He is survived by his devoted children: Tanya Daniel-Ivey, Robert Daniel, Ronnie Daniel, Jody Ellerbee, Lashanda Alford, and Timothy Alford (Shakeria). Jerry's legacy lives on in the lives of his 15 adoring grandchildren: Veronica Foster (Travis), Jennifer Daniel, Jessica Daniel, Laquintus Raines (Jessica), Ronnie Raines, Robbert Mallory (Shae), Warren Pennyman, Jody Ellerbee Jr., Cadasha Traylor, Tibias Alford, Darian Jakma, Micktavious Holt, Matésja Daniel, Shakiedra Daniel, Willie Henry Daniel Jr., and Ayanna Holt.
His family further expanded with the blessing of great-grandchildren, each of whom he cherished deeply: Kendreona Kendrick, Keniya Allen, Brankevion Lucas, Akelia Quiller, Layla Martin, Lataevious Harris, Ra’Myia Anthony, Laquintus Raines Jr., De'Mon Raines, and Sy'Niah Raines. Each one held a special place in his heart, and his love for them was as vast as the sky.
Jerry's life was one of unwavering devotion to his family and an enduring spirit of kindness and generosity. He was a man who valued the simple pleasures of life, always finding joy in a shared meal, a hearty laugh, or a quiet moment in the garden. His love for storytelling and music brought light to many gatherings, and his wisdom was a guiding star for his loved ones.
