Jerry Marvin Bank October 31, 1937 – September 18, 2026.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jerry Bank, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great‑grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on September 18, 2026. Born on October 31, 1937, in Baltimore, Maryland, Jerry's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and resilience.
Jerry was the beloved son of Deina and Leon Bank, who predeceased him, and brother to Phyllis Shankman; who was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; and Fred Bank and his wife, Enid. He was and will always be cherished by his wife of 47 years, Marsha, who stood by his side through life’s journey. Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Flom; with whom he shared 18 years of marriage and raised three children. After Norma's passing in 1977, Jerry found love again with Marsha Willner; marrying her on July 1, 1979. Together, they formed a beautiful, blended family of six children: Leslie Bank; Michael Savarese; Jeffrey Bank and his wife, Kimberly; Deborah Sloan and her husband, Joe; Laurie Turck and her husband, Craig; and Denise Crockett and her husband, Tim. Jerry was also preceded in death by his dear in‑laws Viola and Leroy Willner; and Freida and Samuel Flom.
A proud graduate of City High School in 1955 and the University of Maryland, College Park in 1959, Jerry was an active member of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity, serving as Prior and maintaining lifelong friendships through his dedication as an alumnus. Following family tradition, Jerry embarked on a career in the apparel industry, starting with RAL Sportswear and later Rob Roy. Alongside Marsha, he represented renowned brands like Pacific Trail and Jordache, forging a successful partnership that extended into their personal lives.
Jerry’s love of adventure was reflected in the hallmark camping trips he cherished. With Norma and their children, he honored her end‑of‑life bucket list by journeying across Canada, the East Coast, and on a cross‑country trek — creating lasting memories together. Later, for a unique honeymoon with Marsha, they set out to blend their families by traveling cross‑country in their Prowler trailer, a journey that symbolized not only their union but the creation of one family bound by love.
Despite battling Parkinson’s for over two decades, Jerry embraced life with an indomitable spirit. With Marsha’s unwavering support, he found joy in activities like Parkinson’s Boxing, Parkinson’s Dance, and Wheelchair Pickleball, building friendships and finding strength within these communities. His affection extended beyond family, as he was a devoted Baltimore Orioles and Ravens fan, enjoying tennis, traveling with Marsha, and beach outings. Jerry’s warm spirit, easygoing nature, and sharp sense of style endeared him to many, including their close friends in Baltimore, Columbia, and Riderwood; and Marsha’s brother, Roy, and his wife, Cathy. He was also famous among family and friends for his endless appetite — able to enjoy five slices of pie without gaining a pound — a trait that brought laughter and delight to every gathering.
Jerry's legacy lives on through his 12 grandchildren: Andrew Sloan and his wife, Allison; Alexis Thompson and her husband, Bobby; Amanda Bazemore and her husband, Nicholas; Andrew Bank and his wife, Emily; Max Crockett; Clayton Sloan; Sofia Savarese; Dylon Sloan; Nate Savarese; Jackson Bank‑Krokos; Madeleine Turck; and Brendan Turck. He is also survived by five great‑grandchildren: Bo Thompson, Briggs Thompson, Connor Sloan, River Sloan, and Caroline Sloan. He cherished every moment spent with them, never missing a chance to celebrate their milestones.
Jerry’s wish to give back continued after his passing through his donation to medical science. The family will gather privately to celebrate and remember his life.
In honor of Jerry’s courageous battle with Parkinson's, the family kindly requests donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Suburban Hospital and Casey House Montgomery Hospice for their compassionate care during Jerry’s final days.
Jerry Bank will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will continue to inspire all who knew him.
