It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Jerry Avery Dale, who departed this world peacefully on May 10, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on March 6, 1953, in Auburn, New York, Jerry was a beacon of warmth and kindness throughout his life. He was the beloved son of Clarence A. Post and Willalee Mosley, who preceded him in death.
Jerry's journey through life was marked by an unyielding love for his family, his tireless work ethic, and a personality that left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Educated at Auburn High School, Jerry went on to build a fulfilling career, first as a crane operator for Austeel and later as a bus aide for the ARC. In every role, he was respected for his commitment and his warm, approachable demeanor.
Known affectionately as the "Wolf Man of Chapman Ave." or simply "Satch," Jerry brought joy and laughter to those around him with his great sense of humor. His love for music and the simple pleasure of smoking his cigars were constants in his life, providing him comfort and peace.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Willalee, his siblings Allen, Janis, Crystal, and Michael, his children Avery Dale and Brianna Dale, and his cherished grandchild Averyanna Dale. Despite these profound losses, Jerry remained a pillar of strength for his surviving family, which includes his six children: Cheylon, Trashika, Tonya, Chantel, Rachel, and Deyquan. His brother, Clarence Post, continues to carry on the family legacy, as do his close cousins Leslie McLeod, Tracey McLeod, Dale and Diane. Jerry also leaves behind his devoted girlfriend, Patricia Thomas, who stood by him with unwavering support.
Jerry's legacy is further carried by his 20+ grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. His life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the importance of family ties.
He was blessed to share his life with his first wife, Stephanie Broome, and his second wife, Vanessa Bird, until her untimely passing. In his later years, he found companionship and love with Patricia Thomas, who brought joy and light into his life.
To honor Jerry's life and celebrate the many ways he touched the world around him, a service will be held on May 30, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the United Methodist Church, located at 99 South Street, Auburn, NY. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and remember the remarkable man who filled our lives with laughter and love.
Jerry Avery Dale's journey may have ended, but the love and joy he brought to those around him will forever echo in our hearts. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the memories of his smile, his humor, and the unwavering love he gave to all. Rest in peace, dear Jerry. Your spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.
