Jerry Anthony Shores
September 21, 1952 — March 7, 2026
With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Jerry Anthony Shores on March 7, 2026, at the age of 73. Jerry's journey began on September 21, 1952, in the welcoming town of Denison, Texas. Born to Richard A. Shores and Helen W. (Barron) Shores, Jerry was a cherished son who carried the warmth of his family roots throughout his life.
Jerry was a proud graduate of Coleman High School, nurturing a spirit of curiosity and a passion for learning that stayed with him. Soon after, he answered the call of duty and honorably served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Durham, stationed at San Diego, California Naval Station. His service was a testament to his dedication and love for his country, reflecting a life marked by commitment and integrity.
A man of many talents, Jerry spent his career with Sundowner Trailer Corporation in Coleman, Oklahoma, where he applied his skills as a painter. His work was not just a profession, but a form of artistry that mirrored his creative soul. Outside of his professional life, Jerry was a devoted member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, where his kind-hearted nature touched many lives and his faith provided him with solace and strength.
Jerry had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, particularly through his hobby of hunting arrowheads. This passion connected him to the land and history in a profound way. His artistic talents were further expressed in his love for dancing, often seen joyously moving to the rhythm at Choctaw, where he shared countless moments of happiness with friends and family.
He is survived by a loving family who will continue to celebrate his life and legacy: his Aunt Azel Garner and her husband Clyde of Bells, Texas; Aunt Betty Snow and her husband Sonny of Pilot Point, Texas; Uncle Rex Barron and his wife Linda of Coleman, Oklahoma; Uncle Reggie Barron of Durant, Oklahoma; and numerous cousins, including Glenda Townsend and Cecile Allen of Bells, Texas, and Bobbie Masharey of North Pole, Alaska. Jerry was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Richard Shores Jr. and Jimmy C. Shores, who he now joins in eternal rest.
A service to honor Jerry's life will be held on March 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Center Hill Cemetery, located at N 3720 Rd, Kenefic, OK. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Jerry's gentle spirit are invited to join in celebrating a life well-lived and a soul forever cherished.
In this time of mourning, we seek comfort in the memories of Jerry's kindness, his love for life, and the joy he brought into the world. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the hope that his gentle spirit will continue to guide and inspire us all.
