Jerri Kay Talley, a beloved figure in her community and a cherished cornerstone of her family, passed away peacefully at home on July 19, 2026, at the age of 68. Born in Gainesville, Texas, on December 2, 1957, Jerri's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and compassion. She was the daughter of Rita and the late Jerry Leland Talley, who instilled in her the values of kindness and empathy that she carried throughout her life.
Kay was a devoted wife to Carlos Iturrino, with whom she shared 18 wonderful years of marriage. Her love for Carlos was evident in every aspect of her life, and together they built a home filled with laughter and warmth. Her bond with her mother, Rita Talley, was unbreakable, and she was a loving sister to Jan, and a caring aunt to her niece and nephew, Jill Stewart and Jordan Stewart.
Kay’s true calling was in education, where she found immense joy and fulfillment as a teacher. Her classroom was a haven where students felt valued and inspired. Known for her compassion and dedication, Jerri touched the lives of countless young minds, leaving a legacy of knowledge and kindness that will endure for generations.
Though she did not have grandchildren or great-grandchildren, Kay’s nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, enveloping her students and community in a warm embrace. Her gentle guidance and unwavering support were gifts to all who knew her.
A service to honor Kay’s life will be held on August 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Charles W Smith & Sons Funeral. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Kay are invited to join in celebrating her remarkable journey.
Jerri Kay Talley will be remembered as a beacon of love, strength, and wisdom. Her legacy will continue to light the way for those who were fortunate enough to know her, and her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.
