Jeremiah Jones III

Jeremiah Jones III, a beloved father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at New Hanover Regional Medical Center on September 25, 2026. Born on September 13, 1961, in Pollocksville, NC, Jeremiah was a man whose life was marked by devotion, love, and a deep connection to his family and community. Jeremiah was the cherished son of Doris Jones and the late Mr. Jeremiah Jones Jr. He was predeceased by his father and two brothers, Kenneth Jones of Pollocksville, NC and Donnie James of Trenton, NC. His legacy is honored by his surviving siblings: brothers Jeffery Jones (Ida) of Lawrenceville, GA, Robert Jones Sr. of Pollocksville, NC, Ronald Bryant of Trenton, NC, and sisters Regina Washington (Hazel) of Jacksonville, NC, Deidre Parks (Marcus) of Rocky Mount, NC, Tonya Jones of Rocky Mount, NC, Deborah Kearney of New Bern, NC, Cecilia Walton of Jacksonville, NC, and Charlene Marshall of Raleigh, NC. Jeremiah's life was enriched by his close friendship with Dena Lingefelt, who remained the love of his life. Together, they raised five wonderful children: Nicholas Lingefelt (Lyset) of Farmville, NC, Aaron Jones of New Bern, NC, Caleb Jones of New Bern, NC, Noah Jones of New Bern, NC, and Jamiah Jones of New Bern, NC. Jeremiah has two children from previous relationships to include: Sharita Morris of Jacksonville, NC and Gaylin Pickens of Anderson, SC. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Azkiriah Morris, Zendaya Edwards, Zania Morris, Nymere Morris, and Issac Lingefelt-Valle. Jeremiah attended Jones County Public Schools and later used his skills in masonry and carpentry to work with Father and Sons Masonry. Despite becoming disabled later in life, he remained active in his community, volunteering during food drives with a local church in Maysville, NC. His craftsmanship and willingness to lend a helping hand were well-known and appreciated by all who knew him. An avid fisherman, Jeremiah cherished the times he spent by the water with his children, and he particularly enjoyed working with Aaron on rebuilding mopeds. He found joy in traveling with Dena and their children, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Jeremiah enjoyed sharing his love of football with his children. He enjoyed watching Caleb and Noah play football. Jeremiah's sense of humor, kindness, and dedication left an enduring impact on everyone around him. His love for his family was his greatest pride, and he devoted himself to their happiness and well-being. A service to honor and celebrate Jeremiah's life will be held on October 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Goshen Cemetery, 628 Goshen Road, Pollocksville, NC 28573. Public viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Trinity Funeral Services of Kinston, NC. Jeremiah will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved him.
