Jerald Pearce Nowak, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on September 16, 2026, in the loving company of his cherished wife, Charlotte. Born on January 24, 1960, in Houston, Texas, Jerald was the treasured son of Joseph Nowak III and Bettie McFarland Nowak.
Jerald's life was a testament to resilience, love, and devotion. He bravely faced the challenge of brain cancer with strength and grace, supported by the unwavering love of his family. Tragically, his mother, Bettie, passed away just three days after him, joining him in eternal peace.
Jerald was predeceased by his father, Joseph Michael Nowak II; his brother, Joseph Nowak; his sister, Gwendolynn Nowak Wallace; his first wife, Debra Middleton Nowak; and his nephew, Robert Middleton. Each of these losses marked significant moments in his life, yet he carried forward with a heart full of love for those around him.
Jerald is survived by a large, loving family who will continue to honor his legacy. This includes his sister, Janice Nowak Stallings, her husband Edward Stallings, and their extensive family, including nephews Christopher, Joshua, Jeremy, Zachary, and Paul Stallings, nieces Lisa Smith and Rose Stanton, and their families. His brother-in-law, Guy Wallace, nephews Trey Wallace, and nieces Tara Wallace, along with their families, also carry forward his memory.
His children, Kirranne Johnson and her family, Raymond Nowak and Laura Arney with their daughter Kelsey, and Aaron Nowak with his wife Danielle and their children, will always cherish the lessons and love he imparted. Jerald's family also includes his devoted wife, Charlotte Lewis Baker Nowak, and their daughters, Michaela Baker, Brianna, and Lauren Baker.
Jerald's connection to his family was profound, and he found immense joy in his nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Despite leaving school at an early age, Jerald thrived in his career, dedicating over 19 years to Conroe Door and Hardware until his retirement in 2022. His work ethic and craftsmanship were admired by all who knew him. A man of faith, Jerald was a dedicated member of North Side Baptist Church, where he found community and spiritual growth.
In his leisure time, Jerald had a passion for gardening and carpentry. His home was a testament to his skills, with projects that showcased his talent and attention to detail. His love for video games brought joy and connection to his family, often bringing them together for friendly competitions.
Jerald's humor, empathy, and unwavering love for his family were his most defining qualities. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and cherished, creating a family out of friends and loved ones.
A service to celebrate Jerald's life will be held on September 26, 2026, at 9:00 AM at North Side Baptist Church, located at 701 Teas Nursery Road, Conroe, TX. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the medical professionals who cared for Jerald during his illness and are grateful for the time they spent together after his diagnosis.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to organizations supporting cancer research, in honor of Jerald's courageous battle.
