September 11, 1973 – September 24, 2026
Jennifer Summerlin Castro, 53, passed away on September 24, 2026, following a car accident.
Jennifer was born on September 11, 1973, in Columbus, Mississippi, to Rodney and Debbie Gibson. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend whose quiet and gentle nature touched the lives of those who knew her.
Jennifer was kind and generous and cared deeply for the people in her life. Family was especially important to her, and some of her happiest times were spent together on vacations and at family gatherings. She particularly loved the cruises to Mexico and the Caribbean that she shared with her parents, her sisters, Dava Jackson and Angie Harkins, and their families. Surrounded by her brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other family members, Jennifer enjoyed the laughter, companionship, and simple pleasure of everyone being together. Those family trips created many happy memories that will be treasured for years to come.
Jennifer was the loving mother of RJ Summerlin and Haley Summerlin and a proud grandmother of six grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren held a special place in her heart and brought great happiness to her life.
She had a lifelong love for animals and was especially fond of her cats. Jennifer also loved music and movies and enjoyed the simple pleasures of spending time with the people and animals she loved.
Those who knew Jennifer will remember her as quiet, kind, and generous. She never needed to be the center of attention. Her caring nature showed itself in quieter ways—in the time she shared, the kindness she offered, and the love she had for her family.
Jennifer is survived by her children, RJ Summerlin and Haley Summerlin; her six grandchildren; her parents, Rodney and Debbie Gibson; her sisters, Dava Jackson and Angie Harkins; her brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Jennifer’s life ended far too soon, but the years she shared with us gave our family memories we will carry with us always. We will remember the family gatherings, the cruises and vacations, her love for animals, the music and movies she enjoyed, and all the ordinary moments together that now mean so much.
Most of all, we will remember Jennifer for who she was—our daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. She was deeply loved, she will be deeply missed, and she will forever remain a part of our family.
