Jeffrey Todd Young, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on August 12, 2026, at the age of 62 in Orlando, Florida. Born in Lexington, Kentucky, on May 26, 1964, Jeffrey was the cherished son of the late Lafayette "Speedy" Young and Margaret Anne Pridemore. Jeffrey spent his formative years in Nicholasville, Kentucky, graduating with the class of 1982 from West Jessamine High School. A proud alumnus, he carried the values and friendships from his school days throughout his life. After high school, Jeffrey embarked on a journey filled with passion and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he met. The love he had for Jesus was endless as he told everyone he met the good news! He enjoyed a fulfilling career, spending 16 years working at the Kennedy Space Center, where he held multiple positions, contributing to the exciting world of space exploration. He later spent another 16 years at Signia by Hilton in Orlando, where colleagues remember him as not only a hard worker but a kind-hearted soul who was ever willing to lend a helping hand. Jeffrey's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his cherished son, James Asher Young, and James's wife, Kristen Allison Young. Jeffrey was a proud grandfather to Leah Allison Young and Layne Asher Young, who brought endless joy to his life. His brother, Paul Gregory Young, along with Paul's wife, Connie Young, and their children, Michael Paul Young and Mallorie Wicker, also survive him. Jeffrey shared a loving bond with his ex-wife, Sheila Wesley, with whom he had his son, James. Beyond his family, Jeffrey's passions were as vast as the sky he loved to gaze upon. An avid astronomer, his love for old history was as deep as his fascination with the cosmos. He was a musician at heart, playing in his band, Beyond Silence, and sharing music's universal language with those around him. His hobbies included restoring old Jeeps, fishing, and building his cabin in the Ocala National Forest—a testament to his love for nature and adventure. Jeffrey's rides through the wilderness in his Jeep, accompanied by his grandkids, were moments he cherished deeply. Known for his boundless generosity, Jeffrey was a once-in-a-lifetime person who delighted in helping others. His kindness and compassion were felt by all who crossed his path, leaving a legacy of love and warmth. A memorial service to celebrate Jeffrey's life will be held on August 28, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Signia by Hilton Bonnet Creek, located at 14100 Bonnet Creek Resort, Orlando, FL 32821. Family, friends, and all whose lives Jeffrey touched are invited to honor his memory and share stories of love and laughter. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeffrey's memory to a charity of your choice that supports the exploration of space or the preservation of natural habitats, reflecting his passions and enduring spirit.
