It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jeff Peterson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, at the age of 73. Jeff faced several chronic health complications with bravery and grace. He was surrounded by the love of his family in his final moments. Before his passing, Jeff specifically asked to publicly recognize his wife, Lois, for her immense personal sacrifice, unwavering commitment, and loving care throughout his illness. Jeff was one of eight cherished children born to Gordon and Dorothy Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Kevin and Gordon “Junior” Peterson; his sister, Doreen; and numerous extended family members. Despite these losses, Jeff remained a pillar of strength and love for his family. Shortly after they met, Jeff married Lois, his devoted wife of 51 years. Together, they built a life filled with love and companionship, raising their son and sharing their home with several beloved dogs over the years. Jeff is survived by Lois; their son and daughter-in-law; and two grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. He also leaves behind his brother, Dan, and sisters, Barb, Joni, and Chris. A 1971 high school graduate, Jeff embarked on a career defined by dedication and a strong work ethic. He spent most of his professional life as a skilled machinist, most notably with Barton Products in West Bend and Harley-Davidson Motor Company in Milwaukee. Demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit, Jeff also co-owned Peterson Brothers Moving Company and Peterson Brothers Trucking Company with his brother, Dan. After retiring from Harley-Davidson, Jeff stayed active working part-time, delivering prescription medications throughout the state and later working as a vehicle exchange driver for a local car dealership. Jeff's commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family and faith. Known for his genuine kindness, generosity, and conversational prowess, Jeff was often described as "the nicest guy anyone has ever met." When asked how he wanted to be remembered, he simply replied, “For being a great guy.” His punctuality and sincere interest in people endeared him to everyone he met. In his leisure time, Jeff had a deep passion for classic cars. Over the years, he proudly owned a 1957 Chevy Bel-Air, a 1987 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z, and a 1965 Ford Galaxie. At one point, he even started to restore a 1956 Chevy Bel-Air. He was also a casual fisherman and an avid snowmobile enthusiast. Some of his happiest moments were ones spent with family on a lake at sunset or riding the snowmobile trails with close friends. A memorial service to celebrate Jeff's life will be held on August 28, 2026, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church (1550 Wildwood Rd, West Bend, WI 53095). Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, immediately followed by a church service and a luncheon on-site. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice staff at Aurora Health Care for their compassionate support, patience, and guidance during Jeff's final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Jeff's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization very close to his heart. Jeff's life was a testament to love, hard work, and kindness. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of warmth and generosity will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
