Jeffrey Lynn Sitzman

September 22, 1963 — May 8, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Lynn Sitzman, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Jeff passed away on May 8, 2026, at the age of 62, after a courageous battle following a major stroke he suffered on Christmas Day in 2025. He left this world surrounded by the love of his family, who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Born on September 22, 1963, in Pender, Nebraska, Jeff was the cherished son of Kenneth (Dutch) Sitzman and Reah Faye (Edwards) Sitzman. Growing up in the heart of Nebraska, Jeff developed a strong work ethic and an appreciation for community values, which guided him throughout his life. He was predeceased by his father, his beloved sons Dustan Roy (Sitzman) Vaudrin and Garrett Patrick Sitzman, and his former wife, Robin Wright. Jeff is survived by his devoted mother, Reah, and his loving wife of 20 years, Janet Branscum-Sitzman. His legacy continues through his children: Zachary (Sitzman) Vaudrin, Leslie Nicole Martin, and Cameron Sitzman. Jeff also leaves behind three sisters, a host of cousins, and numerous longtime extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren and recently welcomed a great-grandchild into the world, a testament to the enduring family love he nurtured. Jeff began his journey of life in education by graduating from Wayne-Carroll High School in 1982. He furthered his studies in fire and arson investigation at Southeast Community College in Lincoln, Nebraska, and later pursued a paralegal course at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska. His career path was as varied as his interests, starting with helping local farmers, working in grocery stores, and contributing to Pender Automatic. Known fondly by many children for his time as a school bus driver in Wayne, Jeff also worked in casino security and with a transportation company in Missouri. His passion for fire safety shone brightly through his volunteer work as a firefighter with the Pender department. A man of many memberships, Jeff was involved with the Knights of Columbus and the Masonic Lodge, organizations that further reflected his commitment to community service and camaraderie. Outside of work and service, Jeff found joy in hunting and fishing, and he was always eager to spend quality time with family and friends. Ever willing to lend a helping hand, he was known for his big heart, his wit, and his ability to lighten any mood with his "smart" remarks. Though he could be stern and steadfast when needed, it was his kindness and generosity that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A celebration of Jeff's life will take place on June 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Bressler Park in Wayne, Nebraska. In keeping with Jeff’s wishes for simplicity, this will be a straightforward yet heartfelt gathering. A private burial will follow with immediate family only. The family extends their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time and invites all those who knew Jeff to join in remembering a life well-lived and a man deeply loved. Jeffrey Lynn Sitzman’s life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and community. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered by all whose lives he touched.
