It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Lloyd Goldberg, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Jeff passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, at the age of 90, in his cherished hometown of Providence, Rhode Island. Born on June 10, 1936, to Carl and Pearl Goldberg, Jeff's life was a testament to love, dedication, and the enduring strength of family.
Jeffrey's journey through life was marked by a profound commitment to education and personal growth. He was a proud alumnus of Brown University, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. His thirst for knowledge led him to Columbia University, where he earned his Master's degree. Jeff's academic pursuits were a testament to his unwavering dedication to learning and personal development.
In addition to his academic achievements, Jeff was a man of many passions. An avid runner for over 40 years, he was often seen jogging through the streets of Providence, his beaming smile and infectious laughter lighting up even the cloudiest of days. He had an unyielding curiosity for the world, which he satisfied through travel and a love of reading. Sports were a favorite pastime, though nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family.
Jeff's kindness and generosity knew no bounds. He was a caring gentleman whose sense of humor left an indelible mark on everyone he met. His smile could light up a room, and his stories, filled with wisdom and warmth, would linger long after he told them. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and a deep-seated belief in the goodness of people.
Jeff is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Goldberg, whose partnership and love were the cornerstone of his life. He leaves behind his sons, Carl (Susan) and Seth (Indy), and step-daughters, Shari (Jason) and Carin (Dave), who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. Jeff was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Adam Goldberg, whom he now joins in eternal peace.
The family invites those who wish to honor Jeff's memory to consider a donation to the Brown University Financial Aid Fund or the American Heart Association, organizations that reflect his passion for education and health.
As we bid farewell to Jeff, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. His life was a beautiful melody that will linger in our hearts forever.
In celebrating Jeff's remarkable journey, we remember him not only for the achievements he garnered but for the love he shared and the lives he touched. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will forever remain a beacon of light and love. Rest in peace, dear Jeffrey, knowing you were adored beyond measure.
