It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Jeffrey Lee Smith, who departed this world unexpectedly on March 18, 2026, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. Born on July 27, 1963, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, Jeffrey was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of many with his warmth, creativity, and unwavering dedication. Jeffrey was the beloved son of the late Jack and Kathrine Smith, whose loving spirit he carried throughout his life. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Shara Smith, with whom he shared a beautiful life and raised three wonderful daughters. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and shared memories. A proud veteran, Jeffrey served in the United States Army from 1981 until he was honorably discharged due to injury. His service to his country was a testament to his courage and commitment, qualities that he carried into every aspect of his life. For 39 years, Jeffrey was a dedicated and passionate presence in the tabletop gaming industry. His career was not just a job but a testament to his love for creativity and imagination. He was known for his exceptional talent in painting miniatures, a skill that brought joy and wonder to all who witnessed his artistry. Jeffrey's true pride and joy were his grandchildren, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He is survived by his wife, Shara, and his beloved daughters: Kerie Hopkins, married to Josh Hopkins, and their children, Dean and Eliza Hopkins; Aria Smith and her daughter, Kylah Smith-Johnson; and Zoey Oswalt, married to Timothy Oswalt, and their daughter, Evangeline Oswalt. Though Jeffrey leaves behind four treasured grandchildren, his spirit and love will forever guide them. Beyond his professional and family life, Jeffrey was a man of varied interests. He found joy in the open road while riding his motorcycle and relished the comfort of a good TV show or movie. His friends and family will remember him as a passionate and creative soul, whose laughter and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. A celebration of Jeffrey's life will be held on April 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Steppingstone Museum, located at 461 Quaker Bottom Rd, Havre de Grace, MD, 21078. Family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived and a man deeply loved.
