With heavy hearts and fond memories, we announce the passing of Jeffery Dean Thompson, a beloved father, son, brother, and friend, who peacefully left this world on June 10, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on April 13, 1963, in Owensboro, Kentucky, Jeffery was a beacon of kindness and integrity, whose presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Jeffery was the cherished son of Herman Thompson, who preceded him in death, and Mural Ralph, who survives him. Growing up in Owensboro, Jeffery cultivated a deep love for the community that surrounded him, a love that endured throughout his life. His dedication to his family and his unwavering support to those he cared about were the hallmarks of his character. He leaves behind a loving family to honor his memory, including his devoted daughter, Tara Thompson Ortega, and her husband, Edwin Ortega. Jeffery was a proud and doting grandfather to Ayden and Kaylee Ortega, whose lives he enriched with his warmth and wisdom. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Thompson, and his wife, Mary Jo, as well as his niece, Michelle Adkins, her husband, Kasey, and their children, Logan Boone and DeeDee Johnson. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Jeffery's life on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville, Kentucky. Following the service, Jeffery will be laid to rest at Ralph Cemetery in Ohio County, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the day of the service at the funeral home, offering an opportunity for those who loved Jeffery to come together in remembrance.
