Jeffery David Marrs
August 27, 1954 — May 12, 2018
Jeffery David Marrs, known fondly to his loved ones as Jeff, passed away on May 12, 2018, at the age of 63. Born on August 27, 1954, in Fresno, California, Jeff lived a life marked by resilience, love, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. His passing, due to a heart attack and leukemia, leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him.
Jeff was the beloved son of Carolyn Sue Marrs and was predeceased by his father, James Marrs. He leaves behind his devoted girlfriend, Laura Olcegria, with whom he shared a loving partnership since February 12, 2013. His legacy continues through his cherished daughter, Chloe V. Knowles, and his adored granddaughter, Bella Marrs, who was the light of his life.
A proud graduate of Fresno High School, Jeff spent a decade working as a delivery driver for Domino's Pizza in Sumner, WA. His dedication to his work was matched only by his passion for connecting with people, whether during a delivery or in his personal life.
Jeff's journey was one of transformation and service, highlighted by his active membership in Alcoholics Anonymous since April 13, 1992. Through AA, he found not only his own path to recovery but also a calling to support others. He was a steadfast sponsor, offering guidance and compassion to many, including his sponsee, Michael Stixrud. Jeff's warmth and sincerity shone brightly in every interaction, and his ability to listen deeply was a testament to his generous spirit.
He had a profound love for attending AA meetings and conferences, where he formed lasting friendships and inspired countless individuals with his story of perseverance. Jeff's generosity extended beyond his formal commitments; he was known for his lively conversations with his friends, especially sharing moments of laughter and reflection with his dear friend Chris Dick.
Jeff possessed a unique ability to make those around him feel valued and understood. His gentle spirit and kind heart left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the community he nurtured with unwavering kindness.
As we remember Jeff, let us honor his memory by embracing the values he held dear: compassion, resilience, and the unwavering belief in the power of community and friendship. A private memorial service will be held for family and close friends to celebrate Jeff's life and the love he shared with all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jeff's memory to Alcoholics Anonymous, an organization that was instrumental in his life and that continues to offer hope and support to so many. Jeffery David Marrs will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched.
