November 6, 2025 — April 25, 2026
It is with profound sadness and yet deep appreciation for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Jeanne A. James on April 25, 2026, at Shenango On the Green in New Wilmington, PA. Born on November 6, 2025, in the quaint town of Nesquehoning, PA, Jeanne graced this world with her presence for a brief but impactful time, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, love, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Jeanne was the beloved daughter of the late William G. Paterson and Alice M. (Morgan) Paterson. Her life was marked by a rich tapestry of roles and experiences that shaped her into the warm, loving, and generous person we all cherished. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Holman F. James, and their cherished children, Sheryl J. James and Bradford S. James, whom she now joins in eternal rest.
A graduate of Nesquehoning High School, Jeanne embarked on her professional journey with the Bell Telephone Company in Jim Thorpe, PA. Her career path took her through various roles, including those of a bank teller and a dental assistant, before she found her niche as a receptionist at the McCormock Law Office in Williamsport, PA. Her work was characterized by a commitment to excellence and a genuine interest in the well-being of those she served.
Jeanne's heart was as expansive as her interests. A dedicated member of the Pine Street Methodist Church, she contributed her time and talents to the Care/Share program and the altar guild, enhancing the spiritual life of her community. Her passion for service extended beyond the church walls as she actively participated in the board of the YWCA and the Christian Women’s Organization. Jeanne's involvement with the TOPS Club #1188 was a testament to her discipline and dedication, achieving and maintaining KOPS status for an impressive 32 years.
Her creativity and love for family shone through in her delightful organization of family trips and her talent for hosting beautiful holiday gatherings. Jeanne had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued and seen, a testament to her thoughtful and nurturing nature. She was a beacon of warmth and love, whose memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.
A celebration of Jeanne's life will take place on May 16, 2026, at 11:30 AM at the Lamar Christ Funeral Home, located on Mahoney Ave, Tamaqua, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Nesquehoning Historical Society and the New Wilmington Methodist Church, organizations close to Jeanne's heart.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the devoted staff at Shenango On the Green for their unwavering care and support. Jeanne's journey may have come to a close, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
