Jeanette was born on July 7, 1933, in the warm, close-knit community of Rayne, Louisiana, to her loving parents, Jessie Lewis, Sr., and Rosetta Lewis. Jeanette was a woman of remarkable strength and grace, known to all for her quick wit and warm smile. She had an uncanny ability to light up a room with her presence and make everyone feel welcome, whether she was offering her opinion—often unprovoked yet always insightful—or sharing a moment of laughter. Her kindness was a beacon to many, touching lives in ways that will never be forgotten. On October 31, 1969, Jeanette married the love of her life, Robert Taylor, in a joyful ceremony in Las Vegas. Together, they shared 57 beautiful years filled with love and laughter, creating a family and a legacy that will endure through generations. Though Robert preceded her in death, their bond remains unbroken, a testament to their enduring love. Jeanette's devotion to her family was as steadfast as her faith, and she was a proud and loving mother to her daughter, Renee. Her joy was further magnified by her grandchildren, Christopher and Chanel, whom she cherished dearly. Left to honor her memory are her beloved daughter, grandson, and granddaughter, along with a host of cousins and friends who were blessed by her presence. Her work as a seamstress, housekeeper, and dock worker was more than just employment; it was a passion. Jeanette took pride in her ability to create, organize, and contribute, and she brought her unique flair and dedication to every task she undertook. For over 60 years, Jeanette was an active member of the Holy Light Missionary Baptist Church, where she served diligently in numerous auxiliaries. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength and guidance and fostering a community that she loved dearly. Jeanette is predeceased by her parents, her brother, and her beloved husband, Robert. While their physical presence is missed, their spirits remain woven into the fabric of her legacy. A service to celebrate Jeanette's life will be held on May 22, 2026, at the Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary, located at 3801 W. Manchester Blvd., Inglewood, CA 90305. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary for their care and support during this difficult time. As we bid farewell to Jeanette, we carry forward the lessons she taught us and the love she so freely gave. She will be forever in our hearts, a guiding light that will never fade.
