Jean Lois Burton

February 7, 1952 — May 30, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Lois Burton, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, on May 30, 2026. Born on February 7, 1952, in the idyllic town of Owenton, Kentucky, Lois was a beacon of love and warmth, whose gentle spirit touched everyone she met. Lois was the cherished daughter of William and Mildred Hendrick, who preceded her in death but instilled in her a legacy of kindness and resilience that she carried throughout her life. She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Burton, with whom she shared nearly 54 years of unwavering partnership and affection, having married on July 15, 1972, in Lexington. Together, they built a loving home that became a sanctuary for their family. Jean Lois Burton was a dedicated seamstress, skillfully crafting projects that ranged from the modest to the magnificent. Her passion for sewing was a gift she lovingly shared with her grandchildren, passing down her knowledge and joy for the craft with tender patience. Her hands wove threads into tapestries of memories, stitching together the fabric of her family's life. Lois was an active and cherished member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for over five decades. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and offering her strength and peace. She found immense fulfillment in her work at The Family History Center, where she volunteered for many years. Lois's dedication to genealogy and family history was not just a hobby but a calling, as she diligently pieced together the stories of her ancestors and helped countless others do the same. Her legacy continues through her husband Mike, her children Bonnie (Bill), Westley, and Leslie (Tony), and her adored grandchildren Ashley, Daniel, Morgan, Joshua, Ryan, and Hailey. Her love and wisdom will also live on in her five great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lois's life on June 3, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Milward Funeral Home, located at 1509 Trent Blvd, Lexington, KY 40515. As we gather to honor a life so beautifully lived, we will share stories, shed tears, and remember the gentle soul who enriched our lives in countless ways. Lois passed away peacefully in the care of hospice, surrounded by the family she so dearly loved. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. In our sorrow, we take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved parents, watching over us with the same love and care she bestowed upon us in life. Rest in peace, dear Lois, your love will guide us always.
