JEAN HIMBERGER

January 6, 1939 — November 16, 2025

January 6, 1939 - November 16, 2025 It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Jean Himberger, a cherished mother, devoted educator, and beacon of kindness, on November 16, 2025. Jean left this world peacefully, enveloped by the love and comfort of her family, at the age of 86. Born on January 6, 1939, in the quaint town of Saltsville, Virginia, Jean was the beloved daughter of Jack and Louise Buchanan. From a young age, she demonstrated an insatiable curiosity and a passion for learning, traits that would define much of her life's journey. Jean dedicated her life to the field of education, believing fervently in its power to transform lives. Her career, which spanned decades, saw her nurturing young minds as a teacher and later guiding both students and faculty with wisdom and grace as a high school principal. Her commitment to fostering a supportive and inspiring educational environment has left an indelible mark on the countless lives she touched. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jean's greatest joy was her family. She was the loving mother of four daughters—Toni Mclawhorn, Patty Robertson, Kathy Alachnowicz, and Gerri Himberger—and a son, John Himberger. Her children were her pride and joy, and she instilled in them the values of compassion, integrity, and perseverance. Jean's nurturing spirit and unwavering support were the cornerstones of her family, and her legacy lives on in their hearts. Jean was known for her gentle demeanor, her warm smile, and her ability to make everyone she met feel valued and heard. Her home was always open, a place of warmth and laughter, filled with the aroma of her famous apple pie and the sound of heartfelt conversations. As we remember Jean, we celebrate a life that was rich in love, purpose, and dedication. Her memory will forever be a guiding light for her family, her friends, and the community she so dearly loved. A private celebration of life will be held with family members to honor Jean's memory and the remarkable impact she had on all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local educational charity, in keeping with Jean's lifelong commitment to education and community service. Though she is no longer with us, Jean Himberger's legacy will continue to inspire and uplift all those who have been fortunate enough to have known her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
