In Loving Memory

Jean Curialle
September 30, 1929 — September 26, 2026
Jean Curialle, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on September 26, 2026, just days shy of her 97th birthday. Born on September 30, 1929, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY, Jean was the beloved daughter of John Hamilton and Emelie Hanssen. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Alex Curialle, with whom she shared 70 wonderful years of marriage.
Jean and Alex were married on November 2, 1952, at St. Patrick's Church in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Together, they built a beautiful life while raising their family. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her children: Barbara Barakakos (Joseph, d.), Patricia Auteri (Paul), and Peter Curialle (Patti). She leaves behind a legacy of love through her five grandchildren: Kelly Noto (Jason), Christine Barakakos (Zachary), George Barakakos (Alissa), Christopher Auteri (fiance Sarah Boyle), and Jillian Auteri (fiance Dylan Lagiglia). Jean’s heart was further enriched by her eleven great-grandchildren: Scarlett, Violette, Juliette, Nicolette, Avery, Blake, Zeppelin, PJ, AJ, Oliver, and Riley.
A graduate of Fort Hamilton High School in 1947, Jean furthered her education at Katharine Gibbs School for secretarial studies. Her career as an executive secretary at Citi Bank was a testament to her dedication and skill. In retirement, she found joy in volunteering at the town soup kitchen, sharing her warmth and generosity of spirit with everyone she met.
Jean was a remarkable woman known for her candid nature and unwavering authenticity. Her Norweigan and Scottish roots made her a spirited presence, in which she was adored for her unique charm and zest for life. Her favorite retreat was her cherished lake home in Crandon Lakes, NJ, a place she loved and moved to full-time after her retirement in 2001.
Jean's life was a tapestry woven with love, strength, and simplicity. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who knew and loved her. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shown support during this time.
A service to honor and celebrate Jean’s life will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Scalia Funeral Home, located at 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10312. A Mass of Christian Faith will be offered at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 2nd at St. Ann's Church, located on 161 Cromwell Avenue, Staten Island, NY, 10304. Private Cremation will follow.
