Jean Beryl Bomber
June 19, 1928 — October 24, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Jean Beryl Bomber. Born on June 19, 1928, in Seattle, WA, Jean peacefully departed this world on October 24, 2026, following a brief illness. Her tenacious spirit and feisty nature accompanied her throughout her life and to her final days.
Jean was the beloved daughter of the late Harry Bomber and Katherine Tazzioli, and sister to her predeceased brothers, Phil and Lou. Her life was a testament to the values instilled in her by her family and her education. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, Seattle in 1946 and entered the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary in 1947. She furthered her education at Marylhurst College in Oregon, where she laid the foundation for a remarkable career in education. Upon leaving the Sister's in the early 1970's, she continued forging her incredible career serving others.
For over 50 years, Jean dedicated herself to the nurturing of young minds, serving as both a teacher and school administrator. Her commitment to education and her students was unwavering, and she touched countless lives with her wisdom and guidance.
Jean's life was imbued with faith and devotion; she was a devoted Catholic who found solace and strength in praying the Rosary daily. Her prayers were a source of comfort to many, and she was well-known for her inclusivity in thoughts and prayers for all of us.
She is survived by her brother, Henry "Hank" (Dana), and her beloved nephew, William "Billy" Bomber. Her family also includes numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will dearly miss her presence. Jean's community of friends at Avamere, who were like family to her, will feel her absence deeply.
Jean was a woman of sharp mind and vibrant spirit, a wonderful friend who brought joy and laughter to those around her. She loved movie nights, playing games, fine wine and her favorite slot machines! Her enthusiasm for sports, particularly her devotion to the Seahawks and Gonzaga basketball, was contagious and a testament to her lively and passionate nature.
A funeral Mass to honor and celebrate Jean's life will be held on November 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, located at 475 SE 3rd Avenue, Hillsboro, OR 97123. Recitation of the Rosary at 10:30AM. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a truly remarkable woman. Reception following in the parish hall.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful friends at Avamere Hillsboro, the compassionate nurses at Maryville Nursing Center, and especially to Sandy and Adrea, whose care and love for Jean were invaluable in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to organizations or memorial funds that support education and young people, in honor of Jean's lifelong commitment to teaching and nurturing the next generation.
Jean Beryl Bomber's legacy of love, faith, and dedication will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, forever held in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
