It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of JD Davis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, on May 4, 2026, at his cherished home in Tampa, Florida. Born in Tampa on the same date in 1948, JD's life was a testament to love, dedication, and service.
JD was the beloved son of Barbara and Shannon Davis, who nurtured his early years with warmth and wisdom. He was predeceased by his cherished sister, Harriet Davis, and his brother, lovingly remembered as Larry. Despite these losses, JD's spirit remained resilient, driven by the love and support of his family.
In 1966, JD graduated from Middleton High School in Tampa, Florida, marking the beginning of a journey defined by service and commitment. That same year, he embarked on a four-year tenure with the United States Army, proudly serving his country from 1966 to 1970. His time in the military instilled in him a profound sense of duty and honor, principles he carried into every aspect of his life.
Following his military service, JD dedicated over 30 years to the City of Tampa, where he was a valued employee from 1971 to 2001. His commitment to his work and community was unwavering, and he touched the lives of many through his dedication and kindness.
JD's life was enriched by his deep faith. He was an active member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church since the 1970s, where he found spiritual fulfillment and a loving community that he cherished dearly.
In 1975, JD married the love of his life, Johnnie Davis. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared 47 years of love and partnership. JD is survived by his devoted wife, Johnnie, who stood by his side through every triumph and challenge. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children: daughters Tracey Davis and Danielle Davis, and son Donald Davis. JD's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Latoya Shay, Brooke Davis, Bianca Avant, and Brionne Avant, and his seven great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, and extended family who adored him.
JD's life will be celebrated at a service on May 9, 2026, at 11:32 a.m. at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, located at 4008 E Cayuga St, Tampa, FL 33610. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their support during this time of need.
JD Davis will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his community, and his steadfast faith. His legacy of kindness, service, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and his memory be a blessing to all who were fortunate to have known him.
