In Loving Memory of Jaylen Jones
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jaylen Thomas, whose life, though brief, was marked by love, growth, and quiet strength. Jaylen was born on February 7, 2000, in Lumpkin, Georgia, and was tragically taken from us on June 29, 2026, in Preston, Georgia, at the tender age of 17
Jaylen was the beloved son of Kiawana Thomas, who survives him and carries on the cherished memories of his life. He is also survived by his devoted siblings, Kaodeshia Thomas, Fred Thomas, and Johnny Thomas. Each of them holds a unique piece of Jaylen's spirit, ensuring his legacy of love and perseverance lives on.
A student of Stewart County High School, Jaylen was a dedicated 12th grader eager to embrace the future. His passions extended beyond the academic realm; he was an avid sports enthusiast with a love for basketball, football, and softball. Jaylen’s talent and enthusiasm for sports were a testament to his energetic and vibrant nature.
Jaylen was a member of the New Hope organization, where he began to find his voice, overcoming his natural shyness. Under the loving guidance of his mother, Jaylen grew more comfortable speaking in front of others, even sharing his thoughts in church—a testament to his burgeoning confidence and the supportive environment fostered by his family.
Described by those who knew him as quiet and reserved, Jaylen was a gentle soul who found joy in simple pleasures and cherished the bonds with his family and friends. His mother recalls the pride and joy of watching her son blossom into someone who was learning to embrace the world with open arms.
A memorial service to honor Jaylen's life will be held on July 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Stewart County High School, located in Lumpkin, Georgia. Family, friends, and all whose lives Jaylen touched are invited to join in a celebration of his life and the indelible impact he made.
The family has expressed a preference for donations to be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Jaylen's spirit of kindness and community.
In a heartfelt message from his family, they shared, "One thing about my Uncle and Jo, they knew EXACTLY who they were! We just didn’t know!! It took for them to leave us for us to understand how GREAT they were, how loved they are, and most of all how much they loved! I’m just grateful to have been a part of such greatness ❤️ love you guys."
Jaylen Thomas will be deeply missed, but his quiet strength and the love he spread will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the warmth and love of those who went before him.
