In loving memory of Jayla Amir Smith, whose radiant spirit touched the hearts of everyone she met. Jayla was born on November 6, 2012, in Walterboro, South Carolina, and passed away far too soon on May 26, 2026. Though her years on this earth were brief, her impact was profound and her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
Jayla was the beloved daughter of Morgan Smith and the late Marcus Jackson. She was a bright light in the lives of her family and friends, and her passing leaves a void that can never be filled. She is predeceased by her loving grandfather, Jimmy Dottery, and her uncle, Willie Reed, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms in the afterlife.
A proud student of Colleton County Middle School, Jayla was an active member of the GAP program, where she made many friends and left a lasting impression with her kindness and enthusiasm. She was known for her love of singing and dancing, often filling her home with music and joy. Her infectious laughter could light up the darkest of days and brought smiles to everyone around her.
Jayla was a beacon of joy and warmth, a shining example of how one young soul can bring happiness to so many. Her vibrant spirit and zest for life will be deeply missed, but her memory will carry on in the hearts of all who loved her.
A service to honor and celebrate Jayla's life will be held on May 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Cumberland United Methodist Church, located at 5806 Ritter Road, Ritter, SC 29488. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Jayla are invited to join in commemorating her beautiful life and the joy she brought into the world.
In remembrance of Jayla and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice that supports children's programs, as a tribute to her love for life and learning.
Jayla Amir Smith will be remembered as a beloved daughter, a cherished friend, and a beautiful soul whose light will never fade. May she rest in peace, forever dancing among the stars.
