It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jay Vernon Dingus, who departed this life on April 24, 2026, at the age of 83, at the community hospice in Ashland, Kentucky. Jay was a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband, brother, and friend. His journey through life was marked by kindness, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family.
Jay was born on January 21, 1943, to Joseph Vernon Dingus and Imogene Dingus. He grew up in a household filled with love and warmth, a testament to the nurturing environment created by his parents. Jay was predeceased by his beloved first wife, Brenda Dingus, his father, Joseph, his mother, Imogene, and his sister, Tammy Gillen. Their memories continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew them.
Jay was a man whose heart was as expansive as his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Eva Dingus, who stood by his side with love and support. His legacy is carried on by his children: Greg Dingus and wife Jacquie, Joseph Dingus and wife Sherry, and Christy Dingus Allen, all of whom he was immensely proud. Jay's siblings, Bill Dingus and Peggy, shared a lifelong bond with him and will forever cherish their memories together.
A proud patriarch, Jay's life was enriched by his ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored and who brought immense joy to his life. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he found great delight in their accomplishments and adventures.
Jay's extended family includes Aaron Cremeans, Jeremy Dingus, Zack Dingus, Todd Dingus, Stacey Giordano, Ashley Dingus, Jalon Dingus, Brady Reaper, Kelley Dingus, and Delaney Allen. His presence in their lives was a source of guidance and love, and his influence will continue to resonate through the generations.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Jay Vernon Dingus will be held on April 28, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Hall’s Funeral Home. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Jay are invited to join us in remembering the warmth, humor, and kindness that he brought into the world.
Jay's legacy is one of love, dedication, and family. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit will continue to guide those he loved. His life was a testament to the power of compassion and the importance of cherishing each moment with those we hold dear. As we say goodbye, we hold his memory close, grateful for the time we shared and enriched by his enduring love.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jay’s memory to the community hospice in Ashland, Kentucky, to honor the care and compassion they provided in his final days.
