May 20, 1945 — October 15, 2026

Jay L. Miller, a father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away at his home on October 15, 2026, due to natural causes. Jay was born on May 20, 1945, in Kamiah, Idaho. Jay was the son of the late Jay L. Miller Sr. and Ruth E. Sargent. He is predeceased by his siblings, Debra, Ruth, Michael, and his half-sister Hatti Flanagan. He is survived by his brother, Clayton C. Miller, along with several cousins residing in Idaho. In 1968, Jay married Carol Reno in Lewiston, Idaho. They moved to Reno right after and together, they raised two children, Michael Miller and Stacy Brower, in Sparks, Nevada. Despite parting ways after 25 years of marriage, Jay and Carol remained friends. Jay was a proud father, and his legacy continues through his children, Michael (Arlene Rivera) and Stacy (Tyler Brower), and his four cherished grandchildren: Reece Miller, Evan, Colin, and Amelia Brower. A dedicated worker, Jay began his career in the Reno area as a local truck driver with Delta in 1968. He later worked for Transcon and Thrifty before retiring from Roadway in 2003. Even in retirement, Jay took on a part-time role with the City of Reno Street Division from 2003 until 2006. Jay loved sports, especially baseball, football and racing. Jay coached youth baseball, including his son Mike, with Valley Providence in the late 70's. He then coached North Valley Babe Ruth in the early 80's. His enthusiasm for cars led him to become an active member of several car clubs over the years, including Farside Cruisers, West Coast Customs, and Classic Iron. Jay's 1966 Chevelle was a source of joy, and he loved attending car shows, where he made lifelong friends. Above all, Jay loved being surrounded by his beloved Labradors, who were constant companions through his days and feeding the neighborhood birds daily. In accordance with Jay's wishes, a ceremony will not be held, and he will be laid to rest in Kooskia, Idaho, at a later date. If you wish to honor Jay by a donation, it can be made to the SPCA of Northern Nevada in Jay's memory, reflecting his deep love for animals.
