Obituary of Jason R.M. Valentine
With profound sadness and enduring love, we announce the passing of Jason R.M. Valentine, affectionately known as "Jab," who departed this world peacefully on April 20, 2022, following a severe heart attack. Born on a crisp winter day, January 18, 1969, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Jason was a cherished son to the late Milton Nathaniel Valentine and Carolyn Marva Sims. He now joins them and his beloved brother, Elliott Milton Valentine, in eternal rest.
Jason's life was a testament to love, resilience, and a boundless generosity of spirit. Raised in the vibrant community of Atlantic City, Jason was a product of its public school system where he excelled in math, science, and social studies. Ever the seeker of knowledge, he later earned his CDL license and pursued studies to become a paralegal.
Jason’s career was as diverse as his interests, ranging from home improvement to automotive mechanics. Yet, it was in the kitchen, cooking alongside his brother Elliott, where he found his true joy and passion. Jason had a knack for fixing things, be it a broken appliance or a weary spirit. His hands, always ready to mend, reflected the heart of a man who lived to serve and uplift those around him.
A lover of boxing and chess, Jason’s quick wit and strategic mind were matched only by his warm smile and infectious humor. He had an unparalleled gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness and generosity touched countless lives, and his protective nature was a comfort to those he loved fiercely.
Jason's legacy lives on through his cherished children: Shayna Valentine, Omar Williams, Rasheed Harris, Quayshuan Harris, Mujid Harris, and Rahme Harris. His sisters, Evonda Valentine and Betty Sims, along with his little brother, Shannon Valentine, continue to feel his protective embrace. Jason also leaves behind a host of 16 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who became family.
As we gather to celebrate Jason’s life on May 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Miikles Funeral Home, 30 N Pennsylvania Ave, Atlantic City, NJ, we remember a man whose love was deep, whose laughter was contagious, and whose spirit was unbreakable.
In the words of his family, "Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as Allah calls us one by one, our chains will link again." Jason, your memory will forever be a guiding light in our hearts. Until we meet again, you remain with us, our beloved Jab, in spirit and love eternal.
