In Loving Memory of Jason Capling, affectionately known as DJ KODER The world lost a vibrant soul when Jason Capling, fondly remembered as DJ KODER, departed this life on October 4, 2026. Born on February 8, 1983, in the enchanting city of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Jason’s life was a melody of passion, creativity, and connection. From an early age, Jason was captivated by music. At just 17, he discovered a profound love for DJing with two turntables and a mixer. This early fascination planted the seeds for a career that would see him become a beloved fixture in the pulsating nightlife of Los Angeles. Known for his unique ability to blend classic hip-hop, funk, soul, reggae, house, and dubstep, DJ KODER made his mark on the early 2000s EDM and open-format DJ scene, gracing the decks at major clubs, exclusive red carpet events, and intimate private galas throughout Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Jason’s journey through music wasn’t confined to the glitz of Los Angeles. His magnetic talent and passion led him to the vibrant stages of Scottsdale, Arizona, where he continued to enchant audiences with his eclectic mixes. But no matter how far his travels took him, Jason’s heart always remained anchored to his roots in Santa Fe, the place where his journey began and where it ultimately came full circle. To those who knew him, Jason was more than a DJ; he was a beacon of light and laughter. The life of every party, his infectious humor and radiant spirit left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Jason leaves behind a loving family: his devoted mother, Charlotte Capling; his beloved sister, Erica; and his cherished grandmother, Rita. His extended family and countless friends who were touched by his warmth and generosity will forever carry his memory in their hearts. The impact of his love and kindness will continue to echo through the lives he touched. In honor of Jason’s remarkable life, a private funeral ceremony will be held in his hometown of Santa Fe. Though his physical presence has left us, his spirit, music, and laughter will remain with us always. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jason’s memory to a charity of your choice, celebrating the joyful and generous spirit that defined his life.
