Janis J. Blanton, a beloved mother, grandmother, and dedicated nurse, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, after a courageous battle with stomach cancer. Born on July 23, 1952, in Jasper, Alabama, Janis was the cherished daughter of Gene and Pansy Blanton. Janis was a beacon of love and compassion, traits that were evident throughout her life and career. She graduated from Bevil State Community College in 1974, achieving her dream of becoming a nurse. For 25 years, she dedicated herself to the care and well-being of others, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of her patients and colleagues. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional life into her personal life, where she found immense joy in her family. Though Janis faced the heartbreak of losing her husband, Mike Blanton, her sisters, Jacky and Rosemary Blanton, and her precious granddaughter, Olivia Flemming, she remained a pillar of strength for her family. Janis is survived by her two devoted daughters, Beth Blanton and Stephanie Blanton, who carry forward her legacy of kindness and compassion. Her five grandchildren—Tysen Flemming, Isabella Flemming, Garret Bonner, Emily Posey, and Miles Flemming—were the light of her life, and she adored watching them grow and flourish. Her love extended to her five great-grandchildren, with whom she shared countless cherished moments. Outside of her professional and family life, Janis found solace in her garden, where she nurtured vibrant blooms just as she nurtured those around her. Her love for tending to her garden was matched only by her delight in watching her grandchildren play and explore the world around them. Family, friends, and all who knew her are invited to celebrate Janis’s life on August 5, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at Colinsburg Funeral Home, located at 303 Oak Hill Rd, Jasper, AL 35504. As we gather to honor her memory, we remember a woman who lived her life with grace, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to those she loved. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Janis's memory to support cancer research, an endeavor close to her heart. Janis J.
