Janis Elliot, a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026. Born on August 5, 1952, in Providence, Rhode Island, Janis was the cherished daughter of the late Jack Madison and Kathleen Lightowler. Her life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and warmth that she shared generously with all who knew her. Janis was married to Kurtis Bryce in the 1990s, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter in Winfield, Kansas. She and Kurtis were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Krystal Gonzalez, whom they raised with immense love and care. Janis's heart was further filled with joy by her seven grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and happiness for her. Her professional life saw her working at the cafeteria of Southwestern College, where her kindness and warm smile brightened the days of students and colleagues alike. Janis also took on the loving role of caregiver to her mother-in-law, Leveda Bryce, showcasing her boundless compassion and dedication to family. Janis had a deep affection for animals, particularly her cats, and she had a special fondness for pigs, symbols of her whimsical and nurturing spirit. Her love for her family was profound and unwavering, extending beyond her immediate family to the many relatives and friends who were fortunate to be touched by her kindness. In addition to her parents and her husband Kurtis, Janis was predeceased by many who will now welcome her with open arms into the afterlife. She is survived by her devoted sister, Joan Sharpe, her loving daughter, Krystal, her grandchildren, and numerous extended family members who will continue to carry her legacy of love forward. In keeping with Janis's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor her life. Those who wish to commemorate her memory are encouraged to make donations to the American Heart Association in Dallas, Texas, a cause close to Janis's heart. Janis Elliot's life was a testament to the power of love and kindness. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love will remain forever cherished.
