Janine Ione Johnson
July 6, 1950 — June 28, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Janine Ione Johnson, who left this world peacefully on June 28, 2026, at the age of 75. Born in the gentle heartland of Iowa on July 6, 1950, Janine was a beacon of kindness and love, forever cherished by those whose lives she touched.
Janine was the beloved daughter of the late Donald and Deloris Midthun. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Charles Johnson, her sister Debra Fero, her brothers Russell and Douglas, and her brother-in-law Michael Sorenson. Though they are gone, the legacy of love and family they shared with Janine will endure forever in the hearts of those left behind.
Janine is survived by her loving son, James Midthun, and his wife Jackie. She was the proud grandmother to one grandchild, who, without a doubt, was the light of her life. Her sister Peggy Sorenson of Pocatello, Idaho, and brothers Dwain of Marysville, California, Kenneth of Pocatello, Idaho, and Daryl of Heyburn, Idaho, continue to carry forward the family bond that Janine so dearly treasured. Numerous nieces and nephews also remain to honor her memory.
Throughout her life, Janine dedicated herself to the service and support of others. Her involvement as a volunteer for the Easter Seals Society was a testament to her generous spirit and commitment to helping those in need. Her vibrant presence and caring nature left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Janine also found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as playing bingo whenever she had the opportunity. Her enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and she cherished the camaraderie and laughter shared with fellow bingo enthusiasts.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Bridgeview Post Acute in Yuba City. Janine truly appreciated the warmth and care she received there, and the family is deeply thankful for the compassion shown to her during her time with them.
In celebration of Janine's life, the family invites those who wish to honor her memory to make donations to a charity of their choice. This gesture aligns with Janine's lifelong dedication to giving and supporting those in need.
Janine Ione Johnson will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her legacy of kindness and love will continue to inspire all who knew her. As we bid farewell, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
