October 29, 1953 — May 11, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Janie Lee James, who departed this life peacefully on May 11, 2026, at the age of 72. Janie was born on October 29, 1953, in the serene town of Rocky Mount, Virginia, to the late John Henry Wright and Edna James. She was a cherished daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Janie's life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication. She was a devoted mother to her surviving and adorning son, Jaran James, and a beloved sister to Beany James, who lovingly cared for her in her later years, as well as Joyce James, Barbara Ann Maddox, and Malik James and a host of affectionate nieces, nephews and close friends. Her family was the heart of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them, especially her three grandchildren Jaran, Jaia and Jordan and her precious great-grandchild, Sevyn. Janie's life was not without its share of heartache, having been predeceased by her cherished parents, John and Edna, her loving son, Kaream James, two brothers, and three sisters. Yet, through every trial, her spirit remained unbroken, a beacon of strength and grace to those around her. Her educational journey began at Atlantic City High School, and she furthered her knowledge at her local community college. Janie's career path led her to Harrah’s Casino, where she worked diligently as a cashier. Her co-workers and patrons alike admired her friendly demeanor and unwavering work ethic. In her leisure time, Janie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She delighted in spending time with her family and friends, taking daily walks to the store, and indulging in restful sleep. These moments, though ordinary, were to her the very essence of a life well-lived. The family invites all who knew and loved Janie to join them in a celebration of her life on May 23, 2026, at 12:00 PM, at 41 Edgewater Avenue, Pleasantville, NJ. It will be a time to honor her legacy, share cherished memories, and find solace in the company of those who shared in her journey. Janie Lee James will be remembered for her boundless love, her enduring spirit, and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. Though she is no longer with us, her memory will forever reside in the hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with those who have gone before her, and may her soul find the tranquility it so richly deserves.
